Excerpt: In the end, this one turns out to be a fairly straightforward and well-constructed rye whiskey, in need of a little more age to make it a good sipper but definitely bold and flavorful enough for an elevated cocktail.

House Review
Intro:
An April 2022 release, The Wiseman Rye joins the Kentucky Owl lineup alongside The Wiseman Bourbon. The 10-proof bump over The Wiseman Bourbon has us excited to taste this.
Nose:
Bold rye spice, tons of honey, ginger, sweet cream and a pop of herbal funk, orange peel and acidity.
Taste:
Moderate mouthfeel, rich rye character, brown sugar, orange peel and a touch of anise and black tea. It’s punchy, the ABV hides nicely behind maple, caramel, fresh rye bread.
Finish:
Long finish, the best part for certain, great combination of sweetness, rye spice and pleasant oakiness.
Overall:
While the bourbon was just fine, this rye reaches well beyond it, in no small part due to bump in proof and a pleasant tannin influence. Punchy rye from Kentucky? Pour another.
