Kirkland Signature 24yr Speyside Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish

  • Distiller:

    Various

  • Bottler:

    Various

  • ABV:

    46%

  • Age:

    24 Years

  • Intro:

Distilled by an undisclosed producer in Scotland, this release is bottled by Alexander Murray for Costco - a la Kirkland Signature. It's aged for 24 years with a sherry finish of undisclosed duration and comes in at the sub-$100 price tag. Let's dive in.

  • Nose:

Rich sherry character; ginger, orange peel, a big dollop of honey, big stewed fruits, cocoa and blackberry.

  • Taste:

Medium mouthfeel. Toffee, honey, blackberry and big fig and stewed fruits note. Light sulfur, spicy on the back palate. All the hallmarks of a great sherry bomb.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Spicy at first: ginger, pepper, a touch of oak. Then, the sweets and jam character sets in. Blueberry jam, blackberry preserve, toffee and caramel. Big fig, orange marmalade.

  • Overall:

This is the Jam! Literally, and figuratively. After the 20yr, the 22yr, the 23rd and the 24yr, this is the clear winner. It's developed nicely, and carries a ton of weight and sherry character.
