Laws Whiskey House San Luis Valley Rye

  • Distiller:

    Laws Whiskey House

  • Bottler:

    Laws Whiskey House

  • ABV:

    50%%

  • Age:

    7 Years Old

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled and bottled by Colorado's Laws Whiskey House, this is an annual release distilled from a mashbill made of 95% heirloom rye and 5% heirloom barley. This is a bottled-in-bond release.

  • Nose:

Sweet and fruity aromas full of maple, rock candy, a touch of rye spice and clove, cinnamon and honey.

  • Taste:

Nice body, rich with tons of cocoa and maple. A touch of youth, a bit surprising for the age, but there’s an interesting graininess, some malt and some cinnamon here as well.

  • Finish:

Medium finish. Pleasant overall, heavy on the maple, cinnamon and a touch of praline.

  • Overall:

This is surprising in that at times it drinks older than it is, and other times it drinks younger than it is. I like it, but would truly love it without the graininess and maltiness on the palate.
