Excerpt: The taste is woody, well-balanced, and robust with a hint of campfire smoke, clove, allspice, black pepper, honey, brown sugar, and caramel notes. The finish is long, peppery, and woody. Excellent!
Excerpt: New notes of halva, pansies, blistering spices, tropical fruits, minty candy canes, and peanut skins are layered over the lilacs, rye bread, dark fruits, and slatey rye of its 43% standard release. Long, glowering finish.
Excerpt: The robust rye spices and bottomless oak rumble on the palate with a delicate caramel that pulls its own weight. The Energizer Bunny’s mentor is the endless finish. An instant classic.
Excerpt: This is great and easily the best product I've had from Canada, especially in the rye department. It is high quality but doesn't really challenge THH or some really good WhistlePig barrels, but that still puts that pretty high on my list of ryes.

House Review
Intro:
This is a Canadian cask strength rye that is released as part of the Northern Border Collection. It will be annually released for the next 5 years.
Nose:
Pepper, floral fruits. Vanilla, caramel, rye spice. Toffee, earthy richness. Floral and herbal, sort of like THH, but definitely closer to
Taste:
ich caramel and toffee. Earthy rye. Hot and peppery. Some mineral quality, big bold fruitiness.
Finish:
Long and rich. Lots of pepper and caramel candies. Really pleasant.
Overall:
This is great and easily the best product I've had from Canada, especially in the rye department. It is high quality but doesn't really challenge THH or some really good WhistlePig barrels, but that still puts that pretty high on my list of ryes. It's nice to see this come to market and hopefully a future annual release will see some stateside distribution.
