Intro:
The final of two releases in the 2022 Limited Release Wood Finishing Series from Maker's Mark, BRT-02 is the latest in the BRT series: an exercise from the brand that seeks to explain how barrels from the cooler, lower floors of rickhouses taste. BRT is a moniker for Maker's Mark's "hand barrel rotation" process — an expensive, labor-intensive, process the brand uses for all of its barrels throughout their lives of aging on the property. Nose:
Full of character, BRT-02 is loaded with maple, brown sugar, coffee, toffee and salted caramel. There's only one word for this nose: decadent.

Taste:
Rich on the palate, a prickle of ethanol strikes before honey, brown butter, sweet cream and a touch of oak and caramel lay on thick.

Finish:
Ending with a long finish, BRT-02 is decadent once more and easy to love. The finish, full of caramel and cream, and graced with an appropriate amount of oak.

Lovely, just lovely. This is the winning BRT for me, although the other is no slouch. BRT-02 reigns king in my book, reaching high heights for Maker's.
