  • Excerpt: The flavor profile may not be mind blowing, but it is just different enough from other American whiskeys and bourbons, to make you appreciate the fact that this has been a staple of the Heaven Hill family for the last 70+ years.

  • Excerpt: Sweet corn, young oak, and cinnamon were constant throughout the tasting process. This is an interesting bottle that will not appeal to everyone. If you enjoy the corn forward notes in bourbon, then you should consider giving this one a try.

  • Excerpt: Drinkers searching for something similar to bourbon may be taken aback, even disappointed, by the taste and experience of a corn whiskey. However taking Mellow Corn on its own terms, it’s quite unique and worthy of experimentation.

  • Intro:

Mellow Corn is a corn whiskey product from Heaven Hill. It is also bottled in bond.

  • Nose:

Sweet and syrupy. Lots of honey, corn, caramel. Some ethanol. Not really that bold.

  • Taste:

Thin, and a bit hot, but not bad. Lots of honey and sweet vanilla. Not a lot beyond that.

  • Finish:

Short, unremarkable but inoffensive. Honey, confectioners sugar, faint oak. Definite heat.

  • Overall:

Not bad, could be worse, but also could be much better. I'd still kill for a single barrel of this at cask strength.

  • Score:
