  • Intro:

The 2023 release of Michter's 10-year, single-barrel rye, this whiskey debuted in April 2023 for the first time since July 2022.

  • Nose:

Honey, leather, lemon peel and maple candies. Rye spice is there but takes a bit to pop ahead of the sweet, desserty nose. Touch of candied ginger, some coconut, some clove.

  • Taste:

Nice viscosity on the palate. The rye spice is here! On this big and herbal palate, maple combines with pepper, clove, nutmeg, orange peel. Sweet oak, honey and maple pick up on the back palate. It’s well layered, and I’m impressed how rich this drinks at 46 percent and change.

  • Finish:

Long finish that hangs on. Great combination of ginger, honey, rye spice and maple with a bit of rye funk and clove.

  • Overall:

While it can't topple my favorite vintages of THH, this monster rye is always a pleasure.

  • Score:

    7
