Excerpt: With a joyful finish and palate which I enjoyed more than the nose, Nikka Miyagikyo Non Age Statement was a lovely gateway whisky to Japanese whiskies.
Excerpt: There is a great balance here between sweet and savory, but the whisky lacks much in the way of depth to back that up, giving way to a relatively short, though perfectly pleasant, finish.

House Review
Intro:
"Nikkas entry-level whisky from Miyagikyo distillery. Light in body, yet full of flavour, this is an excellent introduction to Japanese whisky. Elegantly fruity with sherry-cask character." - The Whiskey Exchange
Nose:
Melon, honey, wet cardboard and vanilla
Taste:
Thin, sweet, some green young character, faintly vegetal. Some minor heat, vanilla and light fruity character.
Finish:
Short, medium length, mildly doughy.
Overall:
Overall, I found this young and generally unremarkable. It wasn't actively bad, but lacked a lot of positive character.
Score:
