  • Excerpt: The taste starts off chewy and astringent, followed by good spices and a nice balance of honey, vanilla, and cocoa. The finish fades away gently.

  • Excerpt: There isn’t anything fancy here (besides its label). This is all around a great buy, that is bound to satisfy with its guilt-free expectations. This is the new everyday sipper/table bourbon for 2018.

  • Excerpt: Though it's perfectly enjoyable neat, a few drops of water open it up a bit. And at its very reasonable price, it's an excellent option for a barrel strength bourbon.

  • Excerpt: Old Ezra Barrel Strength Bourbon 7 Years is a decent whiskey. Not mind blowing, but decent – especially at the price!

  • Excerpt: While not the most complex bourbon what it does do is provide a classic bourbon experience with an enjoyable taste and smell. I am looking forward to what LuxRow has in store with future batches of Old Ezra Barrel Proof.

  • Excerpt: All told this is a solid, higher-proof bourbon that I enjoyed quite a lot — and while it works fine on its own, it seems poised for even greater success as a high-abv cocktail mixer.

  • Excerpt: It's not often we see a new barrel proof offering coming in to the market as a non-Limited release, or at a really reasonable price point like this bottle is bringing. I think it's positive to see in the market as a lot of people are flocking to try it. I'm certainly not disappointed with it and will likely seek out a replacement.

  • Intro:

This is a barrel proof release of what is most likely Heaven Hill distillate sourced by Luxco for the Ezra Brooks product line. It is age stated at 7 years old.

  • Nose:

Corn, caramel, toffee and cloves. Some young graininess. Not a ton of ethanol.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. Honey, corn, toffee, peanut brittle. Sweet vanilla. Some young grain, really nice ethanol presence though

  • Finish:

Medium length. Corn, faint musty grain. Some cardboard. Toffee, pepper, cloves. Light bitterness on the finish.

  • Overall:

Not bad, even great, but not exceptional. Great value for what it is, but its no Stagg Jr. I'm certainly impressed by it, though. It's not often we see a new barrel proof offering coming in to the market as a non-Limited release, or at a really reasonable price point like this bottle is bringing. I think it's positive to see in the market as a lot of people are flocking to try it. I'm certainly not disappointed with it and will likely seek out a replacement.
