Old Hickory Hermitage Reserve Barrel Proof

  • Distiller:

    MGP

  • Bottler:

    Old Hickory

  • ABV:

    58.5%

  • Age:

    10 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled from a 99% corn mash, this is a 10-year expression from Old Hickory distilled by MGP. It's matured using ex-bourbon cooperage and bottled at barrel proof. Let's dive in!

  • Nose:

Sweet and buttery on the nose, it's all caramel popcorn sweetness and plenty of honey, light melon, butterscotch and a hint of crème brûlée.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel — pleasant viscosity. It's not a syrupy bomb, but it's not a thin wafer of a pour, either. Sweet buttercream mixes with honey, light melon, buttered popcorn and some praline character. Sweet and enjoyable.

  • Finish:

Moderate finish. Pleasant and sweet once again, light on tannin and oak, which helps the sweet, buttery character carry long through the finish.

  • Overall:

This is entirely pleasant. If you're looking for a pour that is dead locked on to a prime dessert character, moderate to low tannin and a great proof point, this is for you.
