Port Ellen 35yr Signatory Vintage 1982

  • Distiller:

    Port Ellen

  • Bottler:

    Signatory Vintage

  • ABV:

    55.1%

  • Age:

    35 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled in 1982, this particularly legendary bottling comes from the famed Port Ellen. Bottled by Signatory Vintage at cask strength without coloring or filtering after 35 years of aging, this should be one for the books.

  • Nose:

Waxed fruits, honey, almond, fresh cream and some minerality and ash. Light but complex, plenty of barrel influence, though it's far from heavy handed.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate. Tons of buttercream, rich toffee, honey, almonds and a touch of oats. Light oakiness, some firm ash and minerality, but they aren't raw, powerful or overbearing. Apricot jam, some vanilla bean, peaches and pears.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Delectable union of fresh fruits, light dessert notes like vanilla bean, toffee, honey, orgeat and a long, lightly smoky finish.

  • Overall:

Masterful and decadent, Port Ellen never fails to impress.

  • Score:

    8
