  • Intro:

The second release from MMA fighter Conor McGregor's Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey brand, this flavored whiskey takes the original, mediocre Proper No. Twelve and imbues it with apple flavoring. Proper No. Twelve Irish Apple contains 35% ABV and is easily found for between $25 and $30.

  • Nose:

The nose is fresh and full of fruit, oddly natural and surprisingly enticing. Granny smith apple and a pop of acidity. Some faint artificial apple blends in with time.

  • Taste:

On the palate, it's syrupy and sweet, paired nicely with some pop of apple acidity, but ultimately it's a syrupy and sweet pour. I appreciate that it isn't overwhelmingly fake like Crown Apple, and the more-natural viscosity helps here tons. It reminds me of those caramel apple lollipops or apple jolly ranchers. If that's up your alley, this is 110% that profile.

  • Finish:

Short, sweet and syrupy with a touch of ethanol and spirit-y grain.

  • Overall:

I'll admit, this is better than expected, but far from great. For a flavored whiskey, this performs about as well as I've seen. If sweet and packed with artificial and natural fruit tastes is your jam, this should do the trick just fine.
