This is the latest whisky from Playboy Spirits' Rare Hare line. This single-barrel release is 30-year-old Canadian whisky finished in barrels that once held Pineau Des Charentes, a popular French aperitif.
Funky and musty on the nose, this pour is loaded with bread putting, tiramisu, red berries, funky tobacco and rising pastries.
Thin on the palate, but there's plenty going on. The Canadian shows through with tons of caramel, almond, sweet honey, confectioners' sugar and light oak. It's sweet without much balancing spice or tannin.
Short but full of sweetness once again. The Pineau des Charantes really digs in here with plenty of wine sweetness accompanying the Canadian spirit.
Overall, this is great for the sweet-tooth-minded folks in the room. It's not particularly complex, and it leans all sweet.
