  • Intro:

Distilled for Redbreast and finished in American Oak barrels from the Taylor Family Elk Cave Farm in Kentucky, this is Redbreast's Kentucky Oak Edition.

  • Nose:

Buttered biscuits and honey on the nose, peaches and cream, some lightly sour milk funk and cocoa, touch of coconut shavings. Sweet, buttery, lightly oaky.

  • Taste:

Medium mouthfeel, bold spice kicks off the palate along with rich nougat, sweet cream, touch of honey, caramel, coconut and wood shavings.

  • Finish:

Long finish, lightly bitter, full of creamy nougat, light fruits like plum and peach, and some tannic dryness.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is an interesting release, though perhaps a touch disjointed to really shine like past editions have. At $100, it's really up to the drinker to decide if completing the series on their shelf is worth owning one of the weaker, recent, Redbreast releases.
