  • Intro:

Part of the Irish whiskey brand's new endeavor, Redbreast PX takes their standard pot still Irish malt and finishes it in sweet wine casks known as Pedro Ximenez casks.

  • Nose:

Sweet cream, light cocoa, roasted nuts, big buttery texture on the nose. Brown butter, honey, light fig and raisin bread. Lots going on.

  • Taste:

Thin to medium mouthfeel, sweet cream and honey, lovely rich sherry character. Touch of strawberry, blackberry, light tobacco and some pepper.

  • Finish:

Long finish, sweet and creamy with just enough sherry to add a big facet of complexity.

  • Overall:

This bottling is a win for the brand, with Redbreast PX coming out well ahead of many recent releases in the same price class.
