Distilled and produced by Redbreast as an exclusive US market release exclusive, Redbreast’s Small Batch Cask Strength rivals their 12yr Cask Strength expression - both in ABV and price.
Rich on the nose, lovely combination of stewed fruits, figs, bright caramel and cream, and some tobacco. Plenty of nice oak here to keep things balanced.
Sweet on the palate, moderate to rich mouthfeel. Plenty of peach, honey, currant, tobacco and cream - definitely a complex sip to work through. Honey, praline, rich caramel. Creme brûlée. Lovely.
Long finish. A pinprick of heat, but well within what I’d expect for the ABV. Honey, toffee, cream and praline are most noticeable here with some faint stewed fruits and a taste of peach cobbler.
At least as good as the 12yr Cask Strength, Redbreast’s new Small Batch Cask Strength definitely delivers a slightly different profile with much more dessert and cream and I’m into it.
