Smooth Ambler Old Scout 4yr Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye

  • Distiller:

    MGP

  • Bottler:

    Smooth Ambler

  • ABV:

    61.5%

  • Age:

    4 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled at MGP and bottled by Smooth Ambler, this single barrel of rye whiskey was aged for 4 years and bottled at barrel proof.

  • Nose:

Baking spice, clove, honey, copper metallic notes and a big hit of spearmint. Rich on the nose, lack of age isn't broadcasted here at all.

  • Taste:

Medium mouthfeel, a lot of character. Maple syrup, honey, brown sugar, powerful pepper and clove. Lightly herbal, leaning more spearmint than dill.

  • Finish:

Long finish, most notably the most complex part of the pour. Long finish, packed with dessert notes, clove, spearmint and a whallop of brown butter.

  • Overall:

Honestly, drinking quite nicely. This is probably the youngest MGP rye I've had that has impressed me and I'm a fan. (Barrel #16821)

  • Score:

    6
