  • Intro:

Distilled by Springbank and bottled by Kobe Korosue, this PX cask was distilled in 2001, aged for 19 years and bottled at 53.6% ABV in 2020.

  • Nose:

Sweet and musty on the nose, packed with fig, blackberry, a bit of must and raisin sherry funk.

  • Taste:

Sweet and jammy on the palate. Honey, cherries, blackberry, some tar and slate, a touch of ash and smoke. Loads of cream, cocoa, graphite, figs and stewed fruits. Viscous palate, a perfect combo of sherry, light smoke and sweet.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Drier than it is sweet, loads of jam, blackberry, toffee, currants and honey. Touch of smoke once again, helps balance out the jammy sweetness and introduce a touch of nutty sherry, light funk and a last wish of minerality.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is a masterpiece of meaty, funky sherry and demonstrates why rabid fans of the cult of Springbank aren't the least bit crazy. It's delicious, complex and puts Springer's best face forward, even in a different bottle.
