This is St. George's take on a Japanese spin on Scotch whiskey. It's supposed to also shine in a highball. Let's see how it is.
Very strong pear, apples, nail polish. Bright, effervescent, really pear forward. There's bubble gum notes, almost some hop aroma, like centennial and citra. Overall it's bright, lightly musty, and hella fruity.
Caramel, french toast, honey. Bitter and malty, really reminiscent of a malty, hoppy beer once more. Mouth feel is ok, thin to medium with some pepper and ethanol. Heat isn't punishing but it's not a subtle dram, either.
Long, malty, peppery. Lots of varnish and pear.
This isn't good whiskey. The malty profile, combined with the hops, ethanol, all the varnish notes and the long haunting finish make me a little bit sad. It was a cool idea, but I can't recommend this one bit. It reminds me of an amber ale that sat in the sun for a day. The bottle is gorgeous, though.
