  • Excerpt: Could it possibly be better at cask strength and NCF? Sure, but as it sits in this bottle it’s a good whisky with the right amount of sweetness that would be the perfect ending to just about any meal.

  • Excerpt: The palate is a mix of dark red fruits and gentle wood spices; it's very drinkable yet never boring. Sweet caramel, crème brûlée and soft notes of cinnamon and black pepper finish the whisky.

  • Excerpt: The taste is spicy and fruity with notes of clove, allspice, white pepper, red apples, apricots, and hints of citrus, honey, and toasted coconut. The finish fades away slowly with a nice spiciness and hints of dried fruits.

  • Excerpt: Starward Solera is perhaps the most interesting of their core line, but fans of the bottling will be big fans, while others may not fall so head over heals. Solera is unique and fun, but certainly a hit or miss for some.

  • Intro:

Matured in Australian Dessert Wine casks, Starward Solera is a batched release from the brand that is bottled at 43% ABV.

  • Nose:

Sweet and fruity on the nose. A good deal of lemon zest, syrupy honey, light rising bread and some enjoyable oak character.

  • Taste:

Thin on the palate. A bit of honey, no real heat. Sweet cream, vanilla bean, fresh citrus zest and some honey. A bit of pepper and oak to balance nicely.

  • Finish:

Long finish, more pepper on the finish than the nose or palate but it brings welcome balance to the sweet and light characteristics of both.

  • Overall:

Starward Solera is perhaps the most interesting of their core line, but fans of the bottling will be big fans, while others may not fall so head over heals. Solera is unique and fun, but certainly a hit or miss for some.
