Stranahan’s 2022 Diamond Peak Single Malt

  • Distiller:

    Stranahan's

  • Bottler:

    Stranahan's

  • ABV:

    45%

  • Age:

    4 Years

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Intro:

Distilled by Stranahan's, Diamond Peak is a crossover between the brand and Bushmills, a verifiable juggernaut in the Irish whiskey space. Diamond Peak is matured for 4 years at Stranahan's using their standard barreling, and then finished for 3 more years in ex-Bushmills casks. It's diluted with water from mountain springs in Colorado, and is bottled without filtering.

  • Nose:

Rich apple butter, sweet cream, creme brulee, toffee and a fat stack of pancakes and syrup. It's rich, enticing, interesting, and a great presence on the nose.

  • Taste:

Medium on the palate, sweet and packed with flavor. Apple pie, apricot jam, peppery baking spices and clove with a rich, tobacco character. A combination of rising bread, light tannins, sweet dessert and baking spice to balance.

  • Finish:

Long finish, perhaps the most interesting part. The malt shines through, as does the Bushmills. Malt, apple pie, Bushmills fruity and spritely character blend nicely with a finish that carries on well.

  • Overall:

Overall, this is interesting, exciting and most of all: enticing. 2022's Diamond peak manages to display both the base malt, the aging and the finishing characters with the fruitiness of Bushmills adding, rather than covering or subtracting from the base malt flavors. Enjoyable, fun, easy to drink: it's a winner
