Billed as the number one American Single Malt whiskey in the United States, Stranahan's Original is distilled in Colorado from 100% malted barley and bottled at 94 proof. A notable cornerstone of Stranahan's marketing is that any dilution that occurs is done with Rocky Mountain Water - let's see if it makes a splash. Let's dive in.
Sweet honey, rising bread, buttery bisquits, toffee and slivered almonds. Plenty going on, none of it youthful or weird. I'm into it.
Thin to medium mouthfeel. Sweet cream, brown sugar, a touch of sesame seed, sourdough, creme brulee and bread pudding.
Medium finish, toasted marshmallows, caramel, creme brulee, a touch of minerality and a nice, oaky, quality.
Overall, this is impressive for an entry level, NAS single malt and Stranahan's knows how to nail the profile and deliver something that's rock solid.
