  • Excerpt: Honestly, for a young whiskey and a sherry finish, this piles up nicely with lots of great character. No sign of youth, plenty of character, tannin, structure and great, sherry forward flavor: this is a great sign of even better things to come from the brand.

  • Excerpt: It’s definitely earned itself a permanent spot on my bar cart. If you’re a fan of the new sherry cask trend I definitely recommend grabbing yourself a bottle (or 12). This is one you’re absolutely going to want to have in your arsenal.

  • Excerpt: There’s also a certain sharpness up front that is engaging and racy — but that acidity fades quickly as the sherry notes take over, leaving behind a rather flabby spirit. The finish struggles to find anything but old wine, pungent and often gummy.

  • Excerpt: A quite modest note of tobacco leaf comes up on the back end, which carries over into the finish. That lingers for quite some time, with the tobacco fading under a hot cinnamon note that sits lightly on the tongue for longer than I want to go without taking another sip.

  • Excerpt: It’s noticeably different from a heavily sherried Scotch, but in ways that are uniquely delicious and work to deliver a deep and dynamic whiskey. American single malt has a heavily sherried contender and it can definitely hold its own.

  • Intro:

Distilled by Stranahan's in Colorado, this American single malt is produced from 100% malted barley and is transferred to a 500 Liter Oloroso sherry wine cask to finish. Bottled at 94pf.

  • Nose:

Heavy baking spice, honey, rich cocoa, tobacco, a touch of stewed fruits and blackberry.

  • Taste:

Medium viscosity on the palate, cherry cola, pine nuts, toffee, rich buttercream and a hefty, peppery back palate. Pleasant, no sign of youth, malt works great with the wine here.

  • Finish:

Long finish, impressive, enjoyable and full of character and fruit for a young whiskey that's finished. Nice from tip to tail!

  • Overall:

Honestly, for a young whiskey and a sherry finish, this piles up nicely with lots of great character. No sign of youth, plenty of character, tannin, structure and great, sherry forward flavor: this is a great sign of even better things to come from the brand.
