  • Excerpt: I like it, but I feel it’s a bit singular and simplistic in style. Decent, modern sherried whisky but I feel there are better things around the £60 mark,

  • Excerpt: The finish is sweet and long, with lingering, lively spices. A very quaffable, well-priced dram for sherry bomb lovers.

  • Excerpt: It's quite easy to drink despite its high proof. This is a serious dram, worthy of sipping slowly as it gradually reveals its flavors.

  • Excerpt: These citrus notes endure well into the finish, outweighing the cereal character that was more evident in batch #1. For what it’s worth, although the whiskies are virtually the same proof level, I find this one to be considerably more approachable at full cask strength, without water added.

  • Excerpt: I was wary of yet another NAS "sherry bomb" on the market, especially nearer to the $100 mark, but this nails the profile quite nicely. Plenty of sherry, plenty of spice, oak and pepper to keep things out of cloying territory.

  • Intro:

Distilled by Tamdhu, this NAS release comes to us at cask strength with no coloring or filtering, although we do not know the age.

  • Nose:

Pungent and desserty, tons of caramel, cocoa, brown sugar and a bright nutty sherry character. Really complex, in a way I didn't quite expect - this goes on.

  • Taste:

Medium on the palate, no heat despite the impressive proof. Caramel, brown sugar, some spice drops and pepper. Honey, red apples, blackberry, toffee. Definitely a sherry bomb, tons of coffee and pepper as well.

  • Finish:

Long finish. The sherry character is bold and enticing, sweet with plenty of oak, spice and herbal character to keep things from becoming cloying.

  • Overall:

I was wary of yet another NAS "sherry bomb" on the market, especially nearer to the $100 mark, but this nails the profile quite nicely. Plenty of sherry, plenty of spice, oak and pepper to keep things out of cloying territory.
