  • Excerpt: This is a whiskey I can sit, sip, not think about it and be content with what’s in my glass. It’s a perfectly fine whiskey and I’m looking forward to making some cocktails with it and seeing how it does.

  • Intro:

One-third of Irish whiskey brand The Busker's Single Collection, this is The Busker Single Malt. Bottled at 88.6 proof, this whiskey is aged in bourbon barrels and finished in sherry casks.

  • Nose:

Funky and oily on the nose, there’s oak and honey, wet cardboard, a touch of citrus and some sweet cream.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, lightly lactic and funky, a touch bitter. Apples, pears, honey, caramel and cream.

  • Finish:

Short finish, peppery, lightly bitter, the young wood note and a touch of sweet buttercream persists.

  • Overall:

I have to admit that of the Busker’s, I expected this might reach the highest. That said, it falls somewhat short. If it could shake that youthful malt note and a touch of bitterness, it could soar.
