  • Intro:

Distilled and Bottled by Irish whiskey producer The Busker, this is the brand's Single Pot Still Whiskey. Aged and finished in bourbon and sherry casks, this expression is bottled at 44.3% ABV. Priced at about $35, this is a pretty accessible and widely distributed product.

  • Nose:

Light and sweet on the nose, quite grainy and youthful but full of honey, almond and baked pear.

  • Taste:

Youthful once again, it’s a pear and apple parade with touches of honey, pepper, slate and a touch of char.

  • Finish:

Finishing short, Busker Single Pot Still is char-forward with a touch of ash, honey and bitter oak.

  • Overall:

I’m surprised how much char and bitterness there is in this release from Busker, but it is what it is. If pears, almond and char are your friend, this unlikely dram might just be a favorite.
