Excerpt: The finish is drier, with tingly black pepper, astringent oak, and dark chocolate, and finally more citrus, sherry, and fruit in the background. One big sherry bomb all the way through.
Excerpt: Initially, a touch hot on the palate, with sherry and cloves, then toffee and vanilla, red apples, figs, and cocoa. The finish is medium to long, with spicy sherry.
Excerpt: I like what Macallan is doing with the Edition series of whiskies – a fun comparison to taste side-by-side. Nothing so far will keep me from giving Edition No. 5 a try.
Excerpt: I really like this release and embrace the mustier / older feeling sherry influence. It reminds me a lot of a cocoa forward GlenDronach 18. The proof really helps, also.

House Review
Intro:
This is the fourth, and most recent (at the time of this writing), release from The Macallan in their Edition line of expressions.
Nose:
Honey, rich oak. Tobacco. Musty and sweet. Really complex so far. Lots of stewed fruits, dense, complex sherry. Fig, dates, nutmeg and toffee. Plums, caramel and syrup.
Taste:
Thick, rich. No heat. Sweet plum wine, stewed fruits like cherry, currants, blackberry. Caramel, toffee, some tobacco. Nice oak body, light pepper.
Finish:
Long, mild heat. Dry oak, some pepper. Little bit of sulfur. Some significant cocoa.
Overall:
I really like this release and embrace the mustier / older feeling sherry influence. It reminds me a lot of a cocoa forward GlenDronach 18. The proof really helps, also.
