  • Intro:

This is a 6 year old, cask strength rye released as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection each Fall. Proof varies with vintage.

  • Nose:

Maple madness, it smells like the state of Vermont with a dash of pepper. Its hot and I notice it a tad more than the 2012 and 2014 but everything seems a good bit richer. More concentrated.

  • Taste:

This is a tad hotter but not unbearably so. It amazes me that even with the proof on all of these, I dont feel like they need water. Lots of maple, lots of pepper, lots of vanilla here too which I havent noticed as much in the others. Spicy and rich, with a good deal of oak and leathery dustiness.

  • Finish:

This one is very long as well and not punishing although I notice more heat that with the others on this one. Still delicious and I still wish I could have an unending supply.

  • Overall:

Consistent and delicious. THH is a winner for sure.

  • Score:

    8
