  • Intro:

Distilled by an undisclosed producer and bottled by Uncle Nearest, this 60.5%-ABV rye is a single-barrel release from the brand and marks its first as such. Let's dive in!

  • Nose:

Bold cinnamon, baking spice, clove, anise, etc. on the nose. Really a rye spice and baking spice bonanza here.

  • Taste:

Sweet and rich on the palate, spearmint, apple, malty rising bread and a touch of cinnamon persists. A youthful must is present and hard to ignore, although it’s diminished with the higher proof compared to other batches of rye I’ve noticed the note in.

  • Finish:

Medium finish. The youthful oak, baking spice and honey are dominant.

  • Overall:

This rye is totally pleasant and a great stepping stone for Uncle Nearest as it continues to build out its whiskey portfolio.

  • Score:
