Excerpt: I wanted to like this so much, but it just didn’t come together. It carries too much of that immature, raw, woody, craft whiskey, profile that I just can’t get over. Feels like this barrel just wasn’t ready yet.
Excerpt: It’s not overly complex, but the flavors that are present are nicely balanced and complemented by just the right amount of smoldering, back-of-the-throat heat. The finish is medium-long with a touch of wintergreen and cherry candy.
Excerpt: At $50 for a single-barrel, bottled-in-bond bottle, this is a bourbon I’m definitely keeping on my shelf. With that said, I’d be interested to see if a little more age pushes some of the corn notes from the nose into sweeter caramel/toffee notes.
