Excerpt: It’s soft and sweet and I’m really missing is the rye aspect of this one. In some ways it comes off tasting a bit more like a Single Pot Still Irish whiskey, which could be the pot still influence, than it does other rye whiskies out there now. Interesting stuff for sure, but overall just comes across a bit empty – not fully my cup of rye.
Excerpt: What it may lack is complexity, as well as this pretty extreme ryeness that the Europeans can have (when 100% rye), but another than that, I think it’s faultless, easy bourb… I mean, rye.
Excerpt: It’s hard to say, but the lovely banana-vanilla combination dominates until baked pears, pumpkin bread, rye, and baking spices appear. A medium to long finish brings a bright cherry note.
Excerpt: The nose and finish of this whiskey warranted higher ratings, but the palate was a textbook copy of what has come before. Once again, Woodford Reserve has given us a solid – if not exceptional – spirit.
Excerpt: Instead of hitting you over the head with heavy spice and cereal notes as many ryes do these days, these elements relax on the palate, chilling out with some malty milk-chocolate and tangy apricot. This one was well worth the wait.
Excerpt: Woodford Reserve Rye presents itself more as a bourbon than a rye until the finish. While not bad, it’s a soft rye, and doesn’t evoke much rye character through most of the experience.

House Review
Intro:
This is Woodford Reserve Rye whiskey, a rye whiskey released by Woodford Reserve, a subsidiary of Brown-Forman. This is bottled at 45.2% ABV, with no word on age or filtering. Let's get to it.
Nose:
Light, sweet and fragrant - Woodford Reserve Rye carries plenty of notes of honey, peach, clove spice and a hint of pepper.
Taste:
Sweet honey, more fruit like apple, pear, plum and peach, along with faint oak, a hint of pepper and rich cream. Not nearly as spicy as expected - this is not a bold rye.
Finish:
Short, sweet finish. A-ha…here’s the spice. Bitter oak, pepper, some clove and a touch of cinnamon pair nicely with peach, honey and vanilla bean.
Overall:
Woodford Reserve Rye presents itself more as a bourbon than a rye until the finish. While not bad, it’s a soft rye, and doesn’t evoke much rye character through most of the experience.
