Raided Score: 81 Publication: The Whiskey Wash Excerpt: Woodinville Straight Bourbon is ok, but that young craft wood profile is just so darn heavy. Read Full Review Raided Score: 92 Publication: WhiskyCast Excerpt: The finish is long with lingering spices balanced by a nice sweetness. Excellent! Read Full Review Raided Score: 85 Publication: Breaking Bourbon Excerpt: As is, it delivers a nice above-average sipping bourbon. With a few more years of experience under their belt, the sky’s the limit for what may come from this Washington state distillery. Read Full Review Raided Score: 88 Publication: Whisky Advocate Excerpt: Five years of aging have created a solid, well-constructed bourbon that has impressive depth and complexity. Read Full Review Raided Score: 83 Publication: Distiller Excerpt: Those big barrel influences are the star of the show, undoubtedly, but luckily there's some secondary flavors like spearmint, wintergreen, and oregano that show up on the finish of this oaky whiskey. This particular pour has a distinct nose that could be recalled anywhere (in a good way) but the palate is more in line with what one would expect from a classic bourbon. Distilled by Woodinville Whiskey Company in Washington State, this bourbon whiskey comes to us devoid of an age statement but bottled at respectable 45% ABV.
Lots of cocoa, cream, caramel and malt on the nose. A bit young, but not too much. Kind of faint root beer note.
Thin on the palate. Sweet cream, caramel, vanilla bean and pepper. Light oak character. No real heat. Some toffee.
Medium finish. A bit more complex than expected here. Cocoa, toffee and that nice roasted malt character is back.
Not astounding, but for a NAS 45% release from a relatively new outfit (they started in 2010) this is hitting pretty well.
